Dan Swinson is a performance and commercial photographer in Chicago, Illinois. His images have been published in dozens of newspapers and magazines and have won awards in national, as well as international competitions. He has a strong understanding of the technical side of photography, but believes that artistry trumps what's considered technically "right" every time.
He is the proud parent of a son in the United States Marines and a brilliant, talented daughter who has a true love of art and dance (and talking -- just like her mother). He thanks God every day that he has been so incredibly blessed.
Dan, like most people, has had many triumphs and tragedies that have shaped the person he is today, as well as his art, but none more so than the loss of his beloved wife and best friend, Dawn Marie. It was an unexpected and untimely loss (she was only 35 years old) that is the catalyst for the emotion that can be felt in each image. Every image he shoots is in homage to her memory and their eternal love.
